Melisa told
you about our visit in Budapest. After a few days in Budapest, we travelled
around to explore Hungary more. The guide said that this country has over more
than 31.058 km of roads and more than 1118km of motorways. He told us also that
Hungary is now recovering with decreasing his tax rates and has now been
reorganized under European principles.
We took the
bus to one of the industrial areas in Hungary. There we visited different
fabrics and learnt a lot about the industry of the country. Because I had no
idea what the economy of Hungary was about, I took Julie's travel guide and
looked up some information. In the guide, I read that the main sectors of the
Hungarian industry are heavy industry (such as mining, metallurgy, machine and
steel production) but also energy production, mechanical engineering,
chemicals, food industry and automobile production.
One of the
fabrics we visited was the factory of final inspection of assembled Audi TT’s.
This was very impressive and apparently, Audi has its biggest factory in this
country. That’s why Hungary is the favorite destination for foreign investors
of automotive industry. 17% of the total export comes from the export of Audi,
Opel and Suzuki and the automobile sector employs more than 90.000 people! We
had to pay to visit this factory and again, it’s not easy to count in Forint as
we calculate in Euro’s.
One of the
other activities we did was visiting the agriculture area. I was surprised that
they cultivate a lot of different crops, such as sugar beet, canola, potatoes,
and a lot of fruits! The farmer was very friendly and we could taste fruits
from his apple-, pear- and peach trees.
It was an awesome
but a very exhausting day!
*Bye bye*
